About Sugo - Vino & Trattoria in Østerbro
Sugo is an Italian restaurant on Skt. Jakobs Plads, just off Østerbrogade. The place is built around a single ambition: to serve good wine and honest food rooted in Italian regional cooking – in a setting where Italian craftsmanship and a relaxed atmosphere go hand in hand.
The restaurant opened on May 7th, 2026 in the space where PS Østerbro used to be, and is part of the Copenhagen restaurant group Sovino Brands.
Pasta in the window, antipasti on the table
Handmade pasta is at the heart of what we do. Every day, the pasta is rolled out from scratch in the restaurant – often in full view from the street, where people on Østerbrogade can pause and watch. It isn’t a show, it’s just how we like to work.
The menu travels from north to south: agnolotti del plin from Piedmont in a reduced Barolo sauce, cotoletta alla milanese from Milan, Roman pinze with their crisp shell and airy crumb, Neapolitan montanarina and Sicilian arancini. Antipasti and pasta dishes are made for sharing, and the menu is built for both quick visits and long evenings.
A kitchen led by two Italian chefs
Raffaele Buonocore and Simone Sgrò lead the kitchen at Sugo. Both bring Italian roots, originality and authenticity to the menu – making sure each regional dish lands the way it should, in flavour and in spirit.
Day-to-day operations are run by Kasper Assens, who is also part of Restaurant Salon in Bredgade, where he has overseen operations for several years. With him is a team that combines fresh faces with familiar ones from the previous PS Østerbro – including Rachel, Christina and Nicolai, whom many locals already know.
A meeting point on Skt. Jakobs Plads
Sugo is built to fit into life around Skt. Jakobs Plads and to welcome the whole of Østerbro. A place to drop by with kids, with friends, or just for a glass of wine and something to eat. The interior is shaped by warmth and a sense of place. Antiques meet newer pieces in a personal, lived-in style – lively, informal and easy to settle into.
The restaurant is open all day, every day, from lunch to late. Including the quieter hours in between, when the pace slows down and a spritz with a few antipasti in the sun is exactly the right idea.
As Kasper Assens puts it: it should be a place you actually want to use. For special occasions and ordinary Tuesdays alike.
